How to Safely Clean Your Screen

Before assuming a mark is a dead pixel, rule out dust or a smudge — run the Dead & Stuck Pixel Check after cleaning to confirm.

Do

• Power the screen off first — marks are far easier to see against a dark panel.
• Start with a dry microfiber cloth.
• If a mark survives that, lightly dampen the cloth with distilled water or a dedicated screen-cleaning solution.
• Dampen the cloth, never the panel — liquid sprayed on the screen can run into the bezel.

Don't

• Paper towels or regular tissues — they are abrasive enough to scratch coatings.
• Ammonia-based glass cleaners.
• Firm pressure, which can create pressure spots that look like stuck pixels.

If a faint cloudy patch survives a careful clean, it probably is not dirt at all — uneven blotches on a flat gray field are a panel uniformity characteristic, and no amount of wiping will shift them.
